Comparison - Electric Volvo Vehicles Available Now in Oak Park

Volvo has gone fully electric, continuing this exciting trend in the automotive industry. Volvo is currently offering two all-electric vehicles, the Volvo XC40 and the Volvo C40. What's the difference? How are they similar? Learn more about dazzling electric vehicles from one of the leading auto brands in the world.

Design

Volvo has opted to make their electric vehicle debut with SUVs. The Volvo XC40 and the Volvo C40 are fairly similar in size and stature, but the C40 has a coupe-style rear-end. This is in contrast to the hatchback found on the CX40. The CX40 has a bit more room to spare in the main cabin, but both vehicles provide plenty of room for drivers and passengers alike. Both vehicles are fairly quiet, a reputation many electric vehicles have. From top to bottom, Volvo has nailed the design of their electric vehicles.

Performance

The Volvo XC40 is a powerful machine. Accelerating from zero to 60 MPH in 4.5 seconds, its one of the quickest vehicles in its class. The Volvo C40 is slower by two seconds, making it equally as impressive.

The XC40 is powered by a 78-kilowatt hour lithium-ion battery pack, which is mounted underneath the main cabin. This pumps power to each axle, providing this vehicle with fabulous handling via an all-wheel drive system. Drivers can expect 402 horsepower with 489 pound-feet of torque, and a driving range of 223 miles on a single charge.

The C40 is no slouch when it comes to power. A dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain will provide drivers with 402 horsepower and 486 pound-feet of torque. Also equipped with a 78-kilowatt hour battery pack, drivers can expect a range of 226 miles on a single charge. Recharge the C40 in about 40 minutes while using DC fast-charging stations. Receive a complimentary 250-kilowatt hours of charging from Volvo when you fuel up at an Electrify America charging station.

Interior and Tech

The C40 gives drivers a premium experience on the interior. The main cabin is virtually silent, and riders and passengers alike can enjoy a luxurious seat made from recycled materials in a Scandinavian style. The dashboard features an inlay of a topographical map that lights up at night, adding character to this already snazzy ride. The CX40 boasts a roomy cabin with plenty of legroom for everyone. The interior feels plush and premium similar to the C40.

Volvo was not shy about adding top-tier tech to their electric vehicles. The CX40 features a Google operating system to power the 12.3-inch infotainment display, making Google Maps a breeze to use while on the road. Google Assistant will also come in handy if you need to take a note, make a call, or find a great place to eat in the area. Google also powers the infotainment system in the CX40, but it features a slightly smaller nine-inch touchscreen display.

Both vehicles offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing you to connect your mobile devices in a snap. Play your favorite tunes in the C40 through the 13-speaker, 600-watt Harman Kardon audio system, which is also offered in the Ultimate trim level on the XC40. Drivers can also expect four USB-C ports, a wireless charging pad, and power-adjustable heated seats in the XC40 and the C40.

Safety Features

Both vehicles offer an impressive array of standard safety features. A blind-spot monitor will alert you if a vehicle appears in your blind spot as you go to merge. Lane departure mitigation will keep you in between the lines if you get fatigued or distracted. Collision mitigation braking will apply the emergency brake for you to avoid an accident.
