T8 Recharge Powertrain
Each new Volvo plug-in hybrid model is powered by the same great powertrain, and they're marked with the T8 Recharge designation so you always know which model you're getting. This engine starts with a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged engine that, on it's own, delivers 316 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It's then combined with an electric motor that brings total performance up to 400 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque.
You get more than just power - this plug-in hybrid powertrain allows you to use the electric motor and combustion engines either together or separately. That means you can enjoy up to 39 miles of fuel-free driving in EV mode before you need to burn a drop of fuel. Say goodbye to burning gas on your daily commute, and instead enjoy a serene and environmentally friendly cruise to work and back each day.
Finally, each new Volvo plug-in hybrid model is all wheel drive, with the combustion engine driving the front wheels and the electric motor driving the rear wheels. This active all-wheel drive system helps give you more control in wet or slippery conditions, so you can always drive with confidence.
Volvo Plug-in Hybrid Sedans
As you shop the new Volvo luxury sedan lineup, you'll notice that both the Volvo S60 and Volvo S90 give you the option of taking home a plug-in hybrid option. With the sporty S60, you'll enjoy nimble handling and the most efficiency of any Volvo plug-in hybrid model at 58 MPGe and nearly 40 miles of EV-only range. Meanwhile, the Volvo S90 offers a longer wheelbase for more luxury and cabin space, but it does mean a slight reduction in the fuel mileage and range targets.

Much like the sedan family of vehicles, the new Volvo SUV lineup features a pair of plug-in hybrid models to choose from. With both the two-row Volvo XC60 and three-row Volvo XC90, you can enjoy the performance and efficiency of a plug-in hybrid powertrain to enhance all of your travels.
